7 mother’s day gift ideas

Mothers Day

My very first mother’s day is approaching which is very exciting! It’s a day for me to reflect on what an incredible time I have had so far with so much more to come. The mostly ups, occasional downs, but most of all the love for this little human being has been incredible.

I always knew I wanted to be a mum but until I had my little girl, I really didn’t know just how much love I had to offer this amazing miracle of mine!

I thought I would put together my top 7 ideas (maybe even a hint 😉 ) of gifts for not only local Geelong mums but for anyway thinking about what to get their mum for mother’s day!Frankie and I

1. A post natal massage from The Hermosa Room

I was lucky enough to get a massage from Lydia during my pregnancy and it was incredible! Lydia specializes in both pre and post natal massage and I highly recommend! I am hoping I may get that post natal one… They are really relaxing and make you feel so good and is a great gift for either those expecting or that need a good relax from breastfeeding and picking up babies!
The Hermosa Room is based in Torquay and there is a terrific Mothers Day special at the moment!

2. A customised print from Alma Designs

I love prints and what Alma Design create are so special! I already have a couple of their prints but there is always room for more right?!

3. Active-wear from Balance Geelong

I’ve been doing lots of exercise of late, walking seems to be a great way to catch up with fellow mums plus getting back into shape! With a coffee stop always added on, it’s important to look good too! Hence a great new active wear wardrobe is exactly what I need!

4. High Tea at the Vue Grand Queenscliff

I love high tea. It’s one of my favourite things to do and I always take my mum and mum-in-law each year somewhere for high tea (I’m so lucky they get along so well!)
This year it’s about me too.. and somewhere local will be great to try! I haven’t been here, so always keen to try somewhere new!

5. Body products from Natural Supply Co

I love natural products and possibly why I love these ladies so much! I have changed to all natural cleaning products from them which I love, but would also love to put the natural scrubs on the list for a bit of “me” time!

Plus these ladies have put together a mothers day gift guide on their website too with the code MUMLOVE getting you 15% off!

6. A watch from The Horse

Already owning a watch from The Horse and loving it… One can never have to many watches right?!

7. Another pair of Manolo Blahniks

A girl can only dream right?! Maybe I have to wait until 10 years of marriage!

Legs

VAMFF (Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival) has come and gone for another year.

This year I only went to one show and it was a lot of fun! That didn’t stop me watching the street style on Instagram from all my favourite bloggers and photographers!
Once again this year I saw so much variety in what people were wearing. All white or all black outfits were very prominent as well as lots of off the shoulder looks, one that I tried for the first time. I love this look, its just been a hard one to try as I’m breastfeeding which has restricted some of my clothing options!

By coincidence my friends and I all went for short skirts all in different styles. Mine was a newie I picked up from Witchery, with buttons down the front, a look that was inspired by one of my favourite blogs, They All Hate Us. I wanted simple this year and an excuse to bring out my beautiful yellow shoes! (if you haven’t read the story about them go take a look here)

VAMFF again confirmed for me that there are so many different trends. Some I like, some I don’t and some you will never see me wearing! For example flares…I’m just too short for that! I loved seeing lots of navy, and lots of gowns as well as beautiful detailed pieces. A sign that you can choose whatever you heart desires when it comes to fashion.

its getting cold outside

Kirsty

It’s started to get cold outside! Summer has left us and winter is coming quickly.

Time to layer, with the sun still trying to shine in the afternoons.

I’m still on my no tights until May with just over a week to go! But it is a struggle as the cold weather sets in.

I do love some of the amazing winter pieces around but I do hope it’s not a really cold winter…  7 months until summer!

I love navy and grey and I think I will be in these colours a lot of he next few months! Still bringing white and pink in for some pops.

blogger life

Blogger brunch

This week has been jammed packed and for once it’s been all about Geelong Fashionista which is really exciting. On Tuesday last week I went to a Problogger conference day which was great and I learnt a lot. Especially some great skills in using my camera!

On Friday evening I headed to the advanced screening of Dior and I at Moonlight Cinema’s at the Royal Botanic Gardens. A wonderful eye-opening look into the world of couture; looking at a huge fashion house with Christian Dior still looking over the stunning designs.

Saturday morning saw Natalie from Interlaced Media, organise a brunch with a group of 25 bloggers It was wonderful to network and talk to similar minded people. We talked and of course the cameras were out snapping the details of the morning finishing with a massive photo session with cars stopping and people looking as we tried to get the best shots.

Of course the fashion was wonderful with everyone bringing their style to brunch and making some really fun statements. I was sure to snap away and show their everyday style. It was wonderful to meet so many people I have been following and admiring on their journey’s. It’s so reassuring to know everyone is so down to earth! It was also nice to meet people I’d never meet before and discover their blogs!

opening night at vamff

Geelong Fashionista

On Saturday evening I headed off to the opening event of VAMFF fashion week; the David Jones Runway.

I love fashion week most of all for the street fashion and although I didn’t get a lot of photos there were some amazing outfits on the night.

I also got to meet a lot of people and that is always so much fun and making connections in the industry.

My two girlfriends Nicole and Ami came along with me and we all seem to have gone with white in our outfits.
Nic went for one jeans and a denim shirt, while Ami went with a swing dress and paired it with black to give a really great look!

I love the monochrome look from the editor of Alphabet Pony Magazine. I loved how she changed up the suit with a long top and the metallic clutch.

I also ran into Twice Blessed and I loved how the girls complemented each others look. It’s made me really want a sleeveless vest as they really look so great!

Twice Blessed

While I didn’t catch these ladies names I liked the way they had fun with their outfits and looked so different from everyone else.

Unknown Ladies

Then there is me… I went with monochrome and popped it out with pink… It took me a long time to work out what to wear but I felt comfortable and still unique to my style. I even had people stop to take photos this year, (mainly of the stunning clutch), but all the same I had fun getting images and felt like me!KirstyDetailsPurple Chair

vamff is coming

Sheetal-Mudumba

I am very excited…. VAMFF ~ Melbourne Fashion Week has it’s opening night on Saturday night and I’ll be heading along to the opening runway.

Oh course I still have no idea what I wearing but hoping it will all come together in the next couple of days.

As much as I love the runaway and seeing the latest trends one of my most favourite things is seeing the street style and what all the fashion addicts are wearing. I could spend hours watching the people arrive down on the docklands in their style and setting trends for months to come.

To get inspired for the week ahead I thought I would look back on last year’s street style and showcase some of my favourites, and what I wore too.

I got to meet Cecylia last year and it was so nice to meet someone who was so down to earth and happy to get a photo with me! I loved how she looked so effortlessly good!

brodie loves fashion

Brodie

My cousin Brodie has come down to Geelong for the school holidays and like me, Brodie loves fashion and showing off pretty clothes.

I decided rather than seeing me all the time to take some photos of her. Not only did Brodie enjoy getting her photo taken but it was really nice to be behind the camera. By no means do I want to get into photography as a career but I do enjoy capturing the moment and having fun taking photos to remember time and places. In fact in my younger years I was always known as the one that would have the camera in my hand capturing the memories.

It made me realize how much I want and would love to show more people and their style on my blog. I always created Geelong Fashionista with the intention to show street style and others creative flare but have never gone out and taken photos, although maybe unlike me most of my friends don’t want to be all over the bloggersphere! I am going to find the time to take photos of others and show you how much incredible style is around.

We went down to a spot I always enjoy going to get photos but once there we found we drove around a corner and found a new location I had never seen before; although a truck got in the way, we  turned another corner and found a great spot to take some fun photos. Brodie I think enjoyed showing off these beautiful Elm Knitwear designs and having fun in the beautiful spring sunshine.

when old becomes new

sport luxe

I have had this skirt for 10 years! A long time… I remember buying it to wear to a formal function and have somehow kept hold of it in my wardrobe for the last ten years! It has come back in vogue and I never thought I’d get to the age when I could say “I use to have that”. It’s amazing when old becomes new again.

It’s been happening a lot of late! My cousin pulled out a choker the other day and it reminded me of my spice girl days. A great article about them is by Daring Coco, go check her out!

This skirt makes me want to spin around all day. In fact when I had it on yesterday I found every reason to do a big twirl and dance around in this flowy skirt! The material is so lovely and I just love how comfy it is..  After ten years I do have to admit  the skirt has got tighter as things have got a little bigger 😉 but it still works and can make me feel like dancing the night away.

Have you got any items in your wardrobes that you have had for over a decade?

my bali photo diary

Although it was a couple of weeks ago now I thought I would put up some more photos from my recent Bali trip. Andrew took most of these images however I really enjoyed taking photos as well.

Before I left for beautiful Bali I was very lucky to receive this stunning Kimono from Elm Knitwear. The colours are stunning and it is such an incredible piece! I cant wait to get more wear out of it.
