time

talking mum

Time… Something I think I have yet it goes by so quickly!

I love writing this blog. I find it fun, exciting and love sharing my thoughts with the world; yet somehow it gets neglected and forgotten about and pushed aside.

Maybe I should have called this post balance… Finding that balance of looking after your baby girl; cooking meals; doing washing; exercise; catching up with friends, family time and even trying to stay up to date with world news; all seems to pile on top of each other and I sit back and wonder how do I fit it all in.

I’ve tried really hard not to pick up my phone anymore in front of little miss. I don’t want her to think that mum has a phone stuck to her hand, or that I don’t want her undivided attention. So I’ve been putting aside and not checking social media as much. This does make me feel like I miss out on things and have now noticed silly Instagram has changed from a chronological scroll to anywhere and I HATE that! I want it in order and I want to see everyone I follow feeds!!!!!

I have tried to work on the computer while she sits and plays but again I don’t want her to think I have to be in front of a screen, and I get the guilt’s when I see her looking around to make sure I’m watching her! she smiles and always checks I’m seeing her latest trick! It’s so cute and very distracting! 😉

The other thing about time is that I have three more months until I go back to work… That still seems to be a while away but I know it’s going to fly past and gets me thinking about what I really want to do. I love been a mum, yet I do want to work too. Have that life/work balance. What is it that I really want to do?

So I ask you… How do you find the time to fit everything in? How do you prioritize?

king of the castle

KOTC #2

When I go out to a cafe or restaurant I look for three things:

  • Food selection
  • Coffee (yes now that I drink it!)
  • Is it pram friendly?

Now yes this third point isn’t something I have always looked for, it has become a new one on my list. However I have discovered that I like to know if a place is designed to take the pram, can kids go or should I be leaving little miss at home and going with grown ups?

As I have wanted to for a while now I am going to tell you each week about places to go and try around Geelong, Bellarine and the Surf Coast.

To start off I thought I would choose one on my favourite places in Geelong; on Pakington Street;  King of the Castle (KOTC)

I’ve got to know Robbie the owner and I am always so impressed with what he puts into the place and his great ideas! Always helping charity and helping other Geelong businesses it’s so impressive!

the menu

Although the menu is fairly new (they change seasonal) I have been working my way through and trying lots of the delicious food.
There are simple items as well as yum treats, plus great vegetarian options which is always very welcomed by me.

Whether a sweet tooth or after something savoury there are so many choices.

Some of my current favs are the Chill Beans; Black Rice Pudding and the simple Avo on toast!
If you have a sweet tooth the waffles are a must!

coffee

I only started drinking coffee 12 months ago when it became my pregnancy craving. Weird right?!

It’s good coffee and they do pretty much anything that’s in vogue (I say this as I call my brother a Melbourne coffee snob and he now drinks “Magics” and they make them! )

I am partial to a Mocha but my favourite from here is the Affogatos!! You can choose any flavour gelato (Which are all yum on their own) with a shot of coffee!! Amazing!!

venue

KOTC is pram friendly and they are very accommodating to helping us mums in and out of the venue if the door is down on a cold day!

That is not to say you can’t enjoy a coffee with just grown ups but it’s great to know anyone can go along!

Nicole in Pool

My beautiful model Nicole is having a birthday today! So I wish her the happiest of birthdays. I hope it brings a day of laughter and happiness.

Last weekend while we were in Sydney I asked her if I could take some photos of her outfit as I loved her style!

Culottes have been popping up everywhere of late and I thought why not capture this incredible print Nicole had on. Culottes are a great way to feel comfortable while adding something to your outfit. I love this print, you can never have too much leopard!!

We were enjoying the view drinks and fun at the Ivy Pool Bar and after a drink or two Nic let me capture her look.

There were people everywhere… It was packed as there was a charity event on where everyone had to wear budgie smugglers! It was very funny and a great cause. The photos still worked well and I think set the scene.

I really enjoy taking photos of other people. I still have a long way to go in learning techniques but I am happy with how my progress is coming along… Hopefully I’ll get a new camera for my birthday and this will make me a pro! ha ha

What do you think of  the culottes trend?

addicted to shopping

Senso flats

I am addicted to shopping; no surprise there!

I always try and find a good excuse to buy the incredible things I find on Instagram, Facebook or on fellow bloggers sites. I found these Senso sandals just the other day and knew I had to have them (just needed a good excuse to buy them)!

The weather was perfect Saturday and it made me think, “Yes Kirsty, you need a new pair of summer sandals!”  Next thing I know I’m driving into Geelong to Argentina (A shop on Pakington Street)  walk into the shop, try them on and before you can say snap they are in a bag on the way home with me! oops!

What do you think of my new beautiful shoes?

Senso

We took these photos just as a change had come in and boy did the wind pick up!

I was lucky to keep hold of my hat. You can see the wind really moving my top around!

This outfit was so comfy and I really like using grey and white as neutrals to get away from all the black that seems to be worn so often!

brodie loves fashion

Brodie

My cousin Brodie has come down to Geelong for the school holidays and like me, Brodie loves fashion and showing off pretty clothes.

I decided rather than seeing me all the time to take some photos of her. Not only did Brodie enjoy getting her photo taken but it was really nice to be behind the camera. By no means do I want to get into photography as a career but I do enjoy capturing the moment and having fun taking photos to remember time and places. In fact in my younger years I was always known as the one that would have the camera in my hand capturing the memories.

It made me realize how much I want and would love to show more people and their style on my blog. I always created Geelong Fashionista with the intention to show street style and others creative flare but have never gone out and taken photos, although maybe unlike me most of my friends don’t want to be all over the bloggersphere! I am going to find the time to take photos of others and show you how much incredible style is around.

We went down to a spot I always enjoy going to get photos but once there we found we drove around a corner and found a new location I had never seen before; although a truck got in the way, we  turned another corner and found a great spot to take some fun photos. Brodie I think enjoyed showing off these beautiful Elm Knitwear designs and having fun in the beautiful spring sunshine.

i’m a shopaholic…

Pink

Hi my name is Kirsty and I’m a shopaholic. “Hi Kirsty!”

I have come to the realisation that I like to shop; A LOT and I seem to be purchasing a little too much at times.

I try and budget and only buy the things I really need, but when places like Country Road start stocking things I want need; I tend to spend money and purchase some great pieces!

That being said this top is my latest and was brought as a must have top for work and was the perfect top to go watch Geelong play, when in a corporate box over the weekend!

I admit I dont have a serious problem. I can show some self control but somehow I always convince myself its a must have.

Are you a shopaholic?
