Beanie Love

On a bad hair day I like to make life easy and add a beanie or a hat or even a headband. It is not only a quick fix but a look that is fun as well.

I have learnt that sometimes there isn’t time to wash your hair, even to do a proper hairstyle as you need to be out of the door. This is how this look went down. We had to be out of the house by 9 am and the beanie was the solution. Although I do love them anyway to stay warm in winter and they look so good!

I seem to be wearing four/five colours on a regular basis of late, but I still love adding a pop of colour. (even if that colour is one I have been living in) This jacket was a favourite I bought two seasons ago but love that it still works and brings some bright life to my otherwise dark outfit. I love when that happens. You spend good money on a jacket and it still keeps working in with everything you own.  That is why you make sure you invest in key pieces as they really will last through the seasons!

Flats…. they seem to have become my new obsession and who would have thought. I see other bloggers living in heels and don’t know how they do it sometimes running after little people and my bubba not even walking yet! I am loving the change-up and will never lose my love for heels, but will always be practical, especially  when walking around our beautiful town with my little family.

leather jacket with a pop of pink

Leather
Geelong Fashionisat

A few weeks ago I went shopping for some new jumpers… Lo and behold guess what happened? I bought a jacket instead.

Not just any jacket, but I finally have my own leather jacket. One I have been looking for a long time. Bonus it was on SALE!  I’m always happy when I find something I love and want, then to have that feeling when you see it is also on sale is the best. A win win for all involved! (yes that may just be me! )

Leather is so fun to play with as its so versatile. Can easily be dressed up and worn with a dress for going out, also easily adapted for casual, like I have done here for a family day of exploring the neighborhood.

It’s so much fun exploring my own town and finding hidden gems. Something I love getting out of the house and doing especially when the winter sun comes out. I grabbed Andrew and little Miss in the pram and off we went to have a look around and get some photos while we were at it.

Once again I wore my blue flats which I’m starting to think are the only pair in my wardrobe! I really need to make sure I not neglecting others!! It is so easy to put these on due to comfort. They look good and work with everything! Anyone would think I’m getting paid to wear them! (I’m not, I bought them and getting my wear!)

What is your current favourite piece?

Madison Square

Don’t you love it when you come across a beautiful item of clothing so different; you can picture yourself in it with at least four pieces you own?!

That is exactly how I felt when I laid my eyes on this white jumper. I was scrolling through Instagram and came across the jumper from Labels and Love

The arms had great detail and I loved the big over-sized look for something to snuggle into for winter. Plus it was different and I love not been a cookie cutter and trying something a little different. I bet this jumper flies out the door as it is so pretty!

Life has been getting really crazy of late, but in a really good way as I develop Geelong Fashionista and get organised for this upcoming fashion parade. It’s going to be so much fun! I love showcasing the incredible Geelong talent we have and I’m so excited to be showcasing this in the parade, while been empowered and working with the incredible ladies at Geelong Women in Business.  Make sure you keep the day free and come to the Geelong Small Business Expo. Geelong Creative’s are there, an amazing kids corner, local Geelong businesses plus Fashion! It’s everything I love!

I’m on snap chat if anyone wants to follow along my daily fun… gfashionista is the username!

winter comfort

You may have heard me say plenty of times before… winter is not my favourite season! People find this bizarre. As a lover of fashion you can have a lot of fun, boots, layers, coats but aside from all this I don’t like the cold. I would prefer summer clothes any day as well as to be in the warmth (unless there is snow… then I guess I’m happy for cold but that is another story! ha ha)

On a winter day I want to be comfortable and warm! It’s my ideal day in winter. Over the weekend a quiet day at home meant exactly that and I layered up in my cozy knit and top with these fun pants that I didn’t think would work on my short statue. How wrong I can be and again I come back to my point about you have to try different styles on different frames. Sometimes they do work and I don’t think I look to short in these, do I?

When I’m having a home day I still like wearing clothes I can pop out in (saves me getting changed 100 times) This outfit was perfect for a supermarket run and a quick stop in town(city centre of Geelong) to help my brother find some shoes! I’m on a tight budget (well trying) I want a new house and in order for that to happen I need to start saving money and this is extremely hard to a shopaholic! The fact I went into town and did not buy anything for myself or little miss for that matter is truly an extraordinary feat and something to celebrate! 😉

What do you think of winter? Are you a lover or a hater/disliker? What are your favourite winter items to wear?

winter tones

Autumn leaves

Winter seems to attract dark colours, I guess the gloomy days attract darker colours and hence set winter tones.

I’m not saying it’s a bad think, I think these looks can be great but I do try to add some colour to a dark outfit where possible. Hence when shopping in my friends wardrobe (Thanks Nic; I was over my own!), I borrowed the most comfy of colourful flats and now have the urge (ok need!) to go get me a pair as I didn’t want to take them off my feet!  I didn’t think I was the laced-up-shoe kinda girl but how wrong I was! Another lesson that you should try something and it may pay off! I’m not saying buy it but do try before you reject the idea.

I also borrowed her beautiful leather jacket she got made in Bali (yes, now I too have to go to Bali and get one made!) and layered up a winter look with black and grey tones.

As a mum I really am looking for comfort these days. Something that allows me to easily adapt for my little girl, whether that is going for a walk, out for coffee, playing on the floor or even heading to a play centre with other mummies and babies I want to feel like I can do anything in my outfits.

This look did all the above, plus adding a few touches, like earring, necklace and a nice clutch; I can leave little miss at home and go and enjoy me time as well!

navy

38 week bump

There is something about navy that gets me excited! For a while now I have had an obsession with the colour navy and when I came across this beautiful navy stripe dress I knew I needed it!

Not only will this dress be good for the next two weeks (nearly there, come on baby we want to meet you!!!) it will also work really well for feeding as it turns into a nursing dress by lifting the front section of the dress. Something that is going to be very handy for me this summer!

I am not one to waste money and having versatile pieces that work for both maternity and post birth are exactly what I and no doubt anyone that is pregnant require! I keep hearing people saying they don’t want to waste money and I can strongly recommend taking a look at Mim and Bas‘ collection for pieces that work for a good 12 months in your wardrobe. Something that is very handy to me and can easily be styled to suit any occasion!

The weather has really picked up of late which is so exciting. I am thrilled to be having a spring baby and hope that I can get out and about to enjoy the sunshine! This particular day was quite windy, hence the crazy hair, but it was still fun to capture some fun shots as I get closer to the end!

What do you think of the dress and are you someone who loves versatile pieces?

comfy shorts

Kirsty

Wearing comfy clothes has been the biggest thing for me in the last couple of weeks as I grow and grow. Especially this last week with our “heat wave” and making sure I am comfortable as my temperature seems to have jumped quite a lot to normal. Not that I’m complaining!

These shorts are amazing. They look great and no one would know they go all the way over the bump! The minute I saw them I fell in love and knew they would be well-worn! It may only be for a short while but as maternity leaves approaches very very quickly I think they will become a wardrobe essential. That’s right; my last day of work is tomorrow and I am very very excited.

As much as I enjoy my job, I feel it’s time to stop. Almost like my mind knows it’s time to prepare for the next phase in my life.

Mim and Bas really does have some wonderful pieces and I have been getting excited by their new mum clothes, perfect for breastfeeding and yet still looking good! Make sure you go check out the website Mim and Bas to check out their pieces! I’m sure they will be more images to come.

life is crazy

Crazy Life

My life at the moment has been crazy! Between having something on just about every minute of the weekend to a crazy busy working week,  this blog of mine has been missing out.

I’ve tried to take the time to get a few words on the computer but even that has been a challenge and it upsets me as I love putting my time into this my brand and hoping to grow and really show you my readers my everyday style as well as what inspires me.

Today I bring you a look of which brought a day of shopping and doing some much-needed “me” errands as well as enjoying some time at home which is beginning to feel like a holiday house!

This skirt is from Mim and Bas and has been such a great staple for my maternity wardrobe. It’s comfortable around my growing baby bump, a great length as well as easily dressed up for work or worn for a casual weekend.

I’m currently 28 weeks, almost 29 on the home stretch which is very exciting!

Purple

I am so excited to say that I have become a brand rep for Mim and Bas. A beautiful maternity, nursing and beyond store with a love for fashion.

I was gifted with this purple and cream striped dress and I can already tell I’m going to live in it, not only during my pregnancy but after the baby comes to feed as adapts so well with the top easily coming away.

I still love trying to make an outfit different and still making myself feel like me, so I styled this outfit with my trusty fedora and boots, plus in the winter sun tights needed to be added.

These photos were taken in Perth in the beautiful winter sun, which was nice to not have to worry about a scarf or jacket to show off the purple colour!
