its time to celebrate

its time to celebrate
Kirsty

So much has been going on in my life…. To be honest when does it really stop? But currently everything has been happening at once!

I’m back at work! (think of the money ūüėČ )
My little girl turned one! (How did that go so fast!!!)
House hunting (well trying too…)
Birthday parties (1st ones!)
Catch ups…. the list goes on!

Plus this blog of mine has turned 4!!
I really need to celebrate that! 4 years I have been doing this passion project that is so much fun and I love writing plus meeting incredible people along the way.

I still have so many plans for where I will go and how I will take this to the next level… All I need is to fit in a few more hours into my day and hopefully that can come true!
So much to tell you all, so much to write… ¬†Where to begin and how to accomplish! That is my goal of right now!

I have so many incredible Geelong stories about people I am meeting and experiences that I am getting to do now to tell you all about them.

Last week I meet an incredible lady from Geelong that designs designer bags! The quality is outstanding and they are a must for every girl who has dreamt of a designer bag but for an incredible price…. I have so much more to tell you about her, and that will be coming in the next post. For now you¬†need to know the name Cecily Clune, and if you are a Geelong local you can go purchase one from the pop up shop now on in Westfield Geelong!

Not to mention my Christmas (And birthday!!) wishlists will be coming soon!

stripes, stripes stripes

baby bump

I’ve reached the point where I need a few more maternity clothes. I can no longer wear¬†the few things in my wardrobe that are starting to feel like a uniform! (I like options!)

So today I went for a quick browse in my lunch break to see what was at the local shops and anything that seemed appealing (stretchy). It was all stripes… Stripe tops, stripe dresses, stripes stripes stripes.¬†Have I missed a memo or is this the only¬†stretchy¬†fabric around? I was on the hunt for some cute dresses and I am happy to wear stripes but I guess I just needed some more options…¬†

I went into about 5 different shops (I shopped quickly too) but everything that could work to grow with the¬†bump¬†was stripes and I¬†started to think people would question me if I continued to only wear them. I swear my office¬†must¬†currently think I only own five outfits, however not everything I own is stripes…yet! I do love a strip and I’m not unhappy about it, but couldn’t believe what I found… I actually have an amazing purple stripe dress I cant wait to show you on my next post. I decided to show you some of the options I found below.¬†

I also wanted to ask you all a question… Where have people bought their maternity clothes? Without spending a lot of money (I’m all for a few pieces that are expensive but I’m currently looking for basics..)

Have you too noticed all the stripes around??

winter sunshine

baby bump

What a beautiful winter day we had on Sunday. It was still cold but the sun was shinning and you need that this time of year to thaw out the bones!

I have reached the halfway mark with the bump and have now realised my wardrobe needs to be altered. The “stretchy” stuff is becoming my new best friend. Although I am excited to say that I can still do up my jeans! (yay for low risers ) but not sure how much longer that will last. Some of my favourite pieces are going to have to stay in my wardrobe and will entice me back in a few months time!

When I wear dark clothes I do try to pop some sort of colour with the outfit. Whether that be my coat, or a scarf and in this case was my trusty mustard beanie. Although the sun was shinning yesterday it was still crisp and the need for layers was a big requirement.

I still very much plan on keeping the fashion focus on the blog, however you will need to bear¬†with me as I alter to maternity wear for a little while! I hope you don’t mind!

I’d love to hear your tips on maternity wear if you have any!

let there be sun

Weekend Edit

Sometimes I wonder why I live in the cold… Ok it’s not like Canada cold where I have lived, but we don’t have snow, therefore I say it’s yucky cold weather!

Last weekend we headed to sunny Queensland to visit my grandparents. Now I say sunny Queensland as we experienced 25 degrees for the four days; the sun was shinning and it was amazing! Much better than this cold top of 13 we’ve had here in Geelong.

We headed down to Byron Bay one day to have a look around and I got Andrew to capture some photos. FINALLY I know!!! I have been missing in action.¬†Work has been crazy and I have been snowed under… I need to develop a plan to cut back my work life so I can focus on this blog I love so much… and something may be in the works…. I am trying to give Geelong Fashionista the love and devotion it needs!

I love this white dress for an everyday look and it was perfect for a lovely family lunch and explore! Perfect with my Senso sandals which have done me so well! A great purchase right there!

I’ve just had an impromptu social media vacation. It wasn’t intended nor was it because I was over it, it just sort of happened and it felt good.

I’m back now though! I cant wait to get stuck back into everything with lots of fun and exciting posts coming your way. It was nice to step away and relax and realise that life does go on without checking Instagram¬†fifty times a day!

Back to fashion…

I love trying to adapt the clothes¬†I have in my wardrobe. This way I get lots of wear out of ¬†my clothes and change their style. This black top is one of those pieces I wanted to get more wear out of. Being a crop it’s not so easy to wear as the weather starts cooling down and not quite practical enough for work either. A simple white tee with some ripped jeans were the best pairing to try out the look I had in mind.

It was so fun to put this together and I’m really happy with the look, a casual yet fun style with heels to dress it up a little more ready for a dinner out.

Plus the industrial background made for some great images and was a fun shoot.

maxi and me

Tee and Me

Maxi dresses and I have not always been friends. It comes from the fact I am short and they seem to always be too long. Therefore they are rarely seen in my wardrobe!

However every blue moon one pops up that does want to be my friend and actually works on my small statue. This is so with this beautiful peach lace maxi dress. With an asymmetric hem line, coming up at the front, and adjustable straps the length is perfect on¬†me. Although I have heels on for these images, it does also fit well with cute flat sandals as well. Don’t you just love those finds!

I came across Tee and Me on facebook and loved their story. A mum and daughter started out selling printed maxi and sundresses on the Sydney market circuit and have built their brand from there, and they have an eye for beautiful pieces. This dress been the perfect example!

Now my clutch i get here is going to have it’s very own post I think as it is incredible in itself. My brother introduced me to Design A Space and I was amazed at incredible pieces they stock from up and coming designers. This cork clutch the perfect example of amazing talent. But like I said, I think it needs its own story!

stomping to the beat

Pink tank

The weather has been pretty good the last few weekends. I’ve been heading out for beautiful beach walks admiring how lucky I am to live where I do and stomping to the beat of the waves.

In doing this it helps if you happy with what your walking in! I’m all for looking good while exercising! ¬†I have had a real thing for pink at the moment! In fact since I was a little girl it has rarely gone away. (There was that quick¬†phase in year 7 when I tried to only wear dark colours! It lasted 6 weeks; not long at all!) There is something about the colour and the way it makes me feel! I would have thought the opposite would be true as I hear the only colour I wore for the first two years of my life was pink, so I wouldn’t get mistaken for a little boy!

When walking along the beach it is so nice to see so many people out and about enjoying the great outdoors as well as the beautiful weather. There is something about living by the coast and been active. I find it almost a must, if you live by the coast you must love walking and viewing the ocean!

I’d be keen to know if you agree? Do you live by the coast?

I love staying fit and healthy and I try to live an active life. As a result I like to have good active wear to ensure I can be comfortable while exercising, whether that be doing Pilates or yoga, boxing, or going for walks; especially along the beach as I am lucky enough to live so close.

We all know how much I love local and believe in supporting local businesses; I was so excited to discover a range of incredible active wear created here in Geelong, Stomp Apparel.

Stomp was created by a family motivated by a healthy lifestyle wanting affordable, fun and comfortable active wear; to not only sell to others but they too wanted to wear.

I was lucky enough to try out some of their products and I couldn’t be happier. It suits exactly what I am after as well as been comfortable, bright (as I like to stand out when I’m working out!) and really practically made with purpose in mind, (for example the leggings have a pocket at the back to place your key!)

I cant wait to show you more of the active wear in coming weeks!

It was all happening in Geelong over the weekend with so much on to see and do.

The Avalon Airshow started Friday and went right through the weekend. In Geelong West on Saturday was Pako Festa, celebrating all things multicultural. Sunday on the Bellarine was the Wallington Strawberry Fair.

I headed to the inaugural Sustainable Hook and Vine Festival Saturday. It was all about seafood and wine and the organic and sustainable practice of fishing. Music was played throughout the afternoon with wine samples on offer and food and drink to be purchased. Picnic blankets covered the grounds and everyone was enjoying the beautiful sunshine on the last day of summer!

I tried the salt and pepper calamari from Uber Mama and it was delicious! Served with an asian slaw it was a perfect lunch. Andrew tried the pork belly also from Uber Mama and he too thought it was delicious! I think we will be heading to Angelsea to try some more!

Don’t you love it when you find something you love, and when you wear it everyone feels that love for it as well?

That is how I feel about this dress. I put it on Friday morning and headed to work and all day I had people stop me to ask where I got my dress from. They were loving the pattern, the cut and the way it looked so comfortable!

As a fashion blogger I like to show readers beautiful clothes as well as new brands to go have a look at. This dress is no exception. What attracted me to this garment was the pattern and I love how perfect it is¬†for the office. Easily adapted with boots, or flats as well as the heels as I’m wearing.

Melko is an Australian company that sources clothing from South America. (Only working with companies and brands which employ safe and fair workplace conditions!)

Their collections have a south american flair, fun and of an extremely high quality, perfect for Melbourne!! It really is a great brand with incredible pieces and this dress is so perfect as we now hit autumn weather!
