exploring perth

Kings Park

Andrew and I decided we needed a break after a very big few months and have packed our bags and headed to Perth for a week of relaxation.

It was actually funny as we debated long and hard where to go and after lots of back and forth decided we hadn’t been to Perth, and having the added bonus of having friends here that we would come visit for a week.

While I plan on not doing much and relaxing (hopefully thawing out from the cold) I did want to explore and see some of the sights of Perth.

We headed to Kings Park as I’d heard some wonderful things; and people weren’t wrong. Beautiful City views of Perth CBD, the swan river plus plenty to see and do in the park. I really enjoyed exploring.

It was nice not to have a big coat on or even a scarf, although we did receive some rain but still it was great not to be cold! Still finding stripes are following me and I love showing off the bump now and embracing my changing shape. I guess now I’m over the halfway mark I am going to see lots of growth!!

winter sunshine

baby bump

What a beautiful winter day we had on Sunday. It was still cold but the sun was shinning and you need that this time of year to thaw out the bones!

I have reached the halfway mark with the bump and have now realised my wardrobe needs to be altered. The “stretchy” stuff is becoming my new best friend. Although I am excited to say that I can still do up my jeans! (yay for low risers ) but not sure how much longer that will last. Some of my favourite pieces are going to have to stay in my wardrobe and will entice me back in a few months time!

When I wear dark clothes I do try to pop some sort of colour with the outfit. Whether that be my coat, or a scarf and in this case was my trusty mustard beanie. Although the sun was shinning yesterday it was still crisp and the need for layers was a big requirement.

I still very much plan on keeping the fashion focus on the blog, however you will need to bear with me as I alter to maternity wear for a little while! I hope you don’t mind!

I’d love to hear your tips on maternity wear if you have any!

let there be sun

Weekend Edit

Sometimes I wonder why I live in the cold… Ok it’s not like Canada cold where I have lived, but we don’t have snow, therefore I say it’s yucky cold weather!

Last weekend we headed to sunny Queensland to visit my grandparents. Now I say sunny Queensland as we experienced 25 degrees for the four days; the sun was shinning and it was amazing! Much better than this cold top of 13 we’ve had here in Geelong.

We headed down to Byron Bay one day to have a look around and I got Andrew to capture some photos. FINALLY I know!!! I have been missing in action. Work has been crazy and I have been snowed under… I need to develop a plan to cut back my work life so I can focus on this blog I love so much… and something may be in the works…. I am trying to give Geelong Fashionista the love and devotion it needs!

I love this white dress for an everyday look and it was perfect for a lovely family lunch and explore! Perfect with my Senso sandals which have done me so well! A great purchase right there!

geelong fashionista instagram outfits

Everydaystyle

I’ve been joining in with Styling You’s everyday style  over January to show what I have been wearing on a day to day basis (on instagram).

I thought I’d also share them here on Geelong Fashionista for you to have a look at some of my looks from the past month and see what you think of my style.

Although it is summer here in Geelong, we haven’t really had the traditional summer heat we normally experience. In fact it’s been a lot more like spring with sunny but mild days and cool nights. Hopefully next month we will see the summer heat as you know from all my other posts I LOVE the heat!!

It seems my sunnies have had a good workout as has my hat which I do love wearing, especially if you are having a bad hair day.

With most of January been holidays for me there is a lot of my casual wardrobe in here although the last few images are my work attire. Hopefully February will have lots of warm days!

It is my favourite season. I would happily travel the world chasing summer if I could.

I think it helps that I have a birthday in there but I do truly love the heat!

I took a month off this year. I love having time off enjoying the sunshine

2. Swimming in the Ocean

I am so very lucky that I live by the beach and I love going for a swim to cool off either from a hot summer day in the sunshine or straight after work after a long day in the office.

Andrew Surfing

3. Beach Hair

That idea of not having to wash it all the time and embracing the curls in my hair. I love it.

Ace of Something

4. Bronzed skin

While I am all about been sun-smart it’s so great having bronzed legs, arms and tummy.I always have sunscreen on but very lucky my skin easily adapts to the sun.

5. Ice Cream

To cool us down on a hot day there is nothing better than a yummy flavoured ice cream or even a good icy pole.

bright, sunshine, flowers and smiles

Sunshine

Bright, sunshine, flowers and smiles; that  was what my weekend was about! I had such an incredible weekend, and the best part is I had an extra day with taking Monday off work!

On Friday I was spoilt with flowers sent to me at work by my beautiful friend, with the note “fresh flowers to brighten your day!” and that they did! It made the weekend feel like it was going to be wonderful.

I was in such a great mood from my surprise I grabbed Andrew and called my girlfriend and headed off to Union Street Wine Bar for a cheeky red straight after work. It was so nice to just unwind before launching into the weekend.  As we sat enjoying a glass of red I noticed I had an instagram message and I was very excited to see I had won some beautiful flowers from She’s a Wildflower thanks to King of the Castle’s first birthday! Aren’t they amazing?

Winning

Saturday saw us head of to watch the AFL prelim final with some mates which was great to catch up and with our team out it didn’t matter who won; although I was going for Port!!  Followed by a yummy dinner in Melbourne.

Sunday the sun was shinning, the Fox in Flats style challenge was bright and it just made it a beautiful day. I headed off to King of the Castle to pick up my beautiful flowers and enjoy  the glorious sunshine and really enjoyed the day!
