dressing for a wedding

Kirsty

One of my favorite things to do is to get all glammed up for a wedding!! Last weekend just happened to be my sister-in-laws wedding up in Echuca!

It was a beautiful day and the weather was perfect. In fact it really does feel like spring has sprung! A great feeling to have as I’ve been hanging for some sunshine!

Now back to the weekend! Carly looked amazing and everything about the wedding was stunning. I got to use my event management skills by helping at the church and setting up the night! I love helping people create such a special memory, however at 33 weeks pregnant it was a challenge but I think Carly and Mark were very very happy.

The biggest challenge for me was what I was going to wear… I generally plan out a wedding outfit well in advance, it’s just the way I work. I like having a good idea and making sure everything fits in. Not knowing what shape or how big I would be really was a challenge as I had to wait right before the day to really know what I would wear! I’ve found that with the right material you don’t need to wear maternity clothes and that everyday wardrobes can work. I guess I’m also lucky that the only places I have “grown” are my tummy and boobs!

Kookai has been my place off choice for lots of my outfits in the last 8 months and goes to show you do need to experiment. This red dress was perfect and I am forever grateful to my girlfriend for the lend, it sat perfectly around the bump and worked really well!

What do you think? Do you have tips on dressing in maternity wear?

last weekend – part two

KIRSTY AND ANDREW 2 (1)

Here are the details from part two of the most perfect weekend!
After a wonderful Friday we had organised a small intimate dinner with family and friends.

We simply called it “The Last Supper” intimating that it was “an evening to celebrate our last days of freedom”, leaving it to our friends to interpret it in their own way!

Some people guessed and kept to themselves that they thought it could be a wedding, while others were kept guessing, a little suspense added to an already magical evening!

We held the dinner at Arc One Gallery, the private dining room of the restaurant Cumulus on Flinders Lane. After everyone had arrived and we had had a few drinks and delicious canapes, we confirmed everyone’s suspicions and announced that we had got married!!!

My biggest regret of the night was not getting enough photos, it all just happened so quickly! We did manage to get some keepers though so I just wanted to show you a few!

I do need to talk about my dress though! I just fell in love when I saw it and hoped it would work over the bump! It’s Zimmermann and I wasn’t overly keen on spending a fortune. That’s when I found a business on instagram that allows you to rent beautiful garments, called Rent Love Return.
It was just perfect the dress and a great contrast to my Friday night outfit, a dress that made me feel so good on the night!

last weekend – part one

Wedding Day

What did you do last weekend?

I got married!! That’s right after a decade Andrew and I decided to tie the knot in an intimate and low-key affair.

It all started four months ago when I went to my wardrobe and found a foreign shoe box.
At closer inspection I discovered it was a Manolo Blahnik box.

To give you some background, 5 years ago when on our big year-long adventure and in New York, I lived one of my life long dreams and got to buy a pair of Manolo Blahniks.
While in the store for well over and hour (Andrew was thrilled 😉 ) I pointed to a pair of Yellow Satin Hangisi Pumps and said to him ” You don’t have to buy me a diamond ring, just buy me a pair of those!!”

Andrew had walked into our room and I had begun to cry, as I start to realise what was happening. I opened the box and lifted the shoes out of their bags and there they were; the yellow satin Hangisi pumps! As I continued to cry, Andrew told me I better try them on and of course they are the perfect fit and I felt like Cinderella!

Manolo Blahniks

As we had just announced to family and friends that we were pregnant we decided to keep this to ourselves and wanted to do something very low-key. So planning began to tie into our 10 year anniversary.

Only eight weeks ago did we tell our parents and siblings as we needed them to get a day off work and told them what we were doing.

On Friday last week in front of our parents and brothers and sisters we got married and became husband and wife.
It was perfect and one of the best days of my life!
The Melbourne Treasury Building (Registry Office) was a wonderful venue and my dad still got his dream of walking his little girl down the aisle.

We followed up Friday with a dinner on the Saturday evening with our very close family and friends, where we announced to them that we had got married.
More to come on that in part two!

I love going to weddings. Feeling the love that is in the air; the happiness on both the couples faces and the amount of fun to be had celebrating the beautiful couple.

The wedding I went to last weekend was no exception! It was beautiful, every detail had been thought of and it was one of the most stylish weddings I have been too!

Fiona and Jonny were so happy and they radiated the love they had for each other.

The ceremony was held on the beach and as you walked down to the sand you were able to take your shoes off and grab a pair of thongs to put on. On the way off the sand there was even brushes provided to wipe your sandy toes! So thoughtful and brilliant details.

Inside was no exception with creative name tags, little bags for the cutlery and stunning flowers down the middle of the tables provided by a beautiful Geelong Florist Smellies.

I choose to wear a gingham dress that I found on ASOS and even scored it on sale. I am loving this cut at the moment and seem to be wearing it a lot. It is so flattering and shows off my frame.

I am a big believer in not wearing white to a wedding. I find it rude, however I was assured this dress was not white and that it was perfect for a wedding. I felt great and loved popping the dress with these beautiful watermelon strappy heels. They gave just the right tough!

The weather was perfect and we all had so much fun and partied into the night.

I am incredibly lucky to know a fantastic photographer who took all the photos for the wedding as well. I highly recommend you go have a look at her page! Katie Wheeler Photography is a local Geelong women and does an incredible job of capturing the moment. As a dear friend of mine Katie took some beautiful shots of my outfit and I am sooo happy with how they have come up! So you will notice there is an overload of photos today!

sparkles at a wedding

Princess Polly

Last Saturday I went to Wedding of two of our friends. The weather was beautiful and I wanted to wear something quite fun!

I’ve had this sparkle dress in my wardrobe for sometime now but never really worn it anywhere and decided the wedding was the perfect occasion.

I loved the hair style my very talented hairdresser Rhiannon created. Something fun and different highlighting the ombre look I have. These shoes are also the most comfy pair and such a great investment!
